American Fisheries Society, Fish Culture Section
The Fish Culture Section of the American Fisheries Society is an association of members concerned with advancing cultivation technology of aquatic organisms for food, recreation (sport and ornamentals), habitat enhancement, and conservation. The Section disseminates information about fish culture to professionals and the lay public; it strives to support and enhance fish culture programs of private, governmental, and international entities.

Lacey Act and Aquaculture
The following information may be of interest to persons who wish to learn more about the Lacey Act and implication for aquaculture. Penalties under the Lacey Act for even minor offenses or oversights were raised by several fish producers in the federal town hall session sponsored by the National Aquaculture  Association at the AQUACULTURE 2010 meeting in San Diego. Attorney Beth Springsteen of the National Ag Law Center has completed a fact sheet on Aquaculture and the Lacey Act. National Aquaculture Association (NAA)
The National Aquaculture Association (NAA) is a producer-oriented, non-profit, trade association representing all segments of the US aquaculture industry. Membership is comprised of individual members, along with state, species and other trade associations.
The NAA Mission is to provide a unified national voice for aquaculture that ensures its sustainability, protects its profitability and encourages its development in an environmentally responsible manner.

National Association of State Departments of Agriculture (NASDA)
Our mission is to represent the state departments of agriculture in the development, implementation, and communication of sound public policy and programs which support and promote the American agricultural industry, while protecting consumers and the environment.


National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)
An agency within the U.S. Department of Commerce, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has a long and rich tradition in aquaculture, from its support for cutting-edge science and research to federal policymaking.

USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) National Aquaculture Program
APHIS programs currently serve important aspects of both plant and animal aquaculture, especially involving disease, pest prevention, and wildlife damage management. APHIS also has become involved in facilitating importation and exportation in aquacultural products because of increased global trade.

USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) and Wildlife Services (WS) Wildlife Damage
APHIS and WS are involved in programs to help fish farmers and other aquaculture interests protect fish stock from wildlife damage. Multiple states are participating in Aquaculture protection programs.

National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA)
In cooperation with our land-grant university partners and diverse stakeholders, NIFA provides leadership and funding for aquaculture research, technology development, and extension programs. NIFA provides approximately $30 million annually to our partners to conduct aquaculture-related research, education, and extension activities.

The system contains nearly 2500 reports and datasets. These materials cover U.S. and international agriculture and related topics. Available titles include both current and historical data.

USDA National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS)
The National Agricultural Statistics Service provides timely, accurate, and useful statistics in service to U.S. agriculture.

US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Center for Veterinary Medicine
Aquaculture is becoming an increasingly important source of fish available for human consumption. As the number of aquaculture facilities grows, so does the need to develop safe and effective drugs for treating fish diseases. The FDA's Center for Veterinary Medicine (CVM) is working with various government agencies and aquaculture associations to increase the number of safe and effective drugs that can be used by the aquaculture industry.

World Aquaculture Society (WAS)
The World Aquaculture Society, through this commitment to excellence in science, technology, education, and information exchange, will endeavor to contribute to the progressive and sustainable development of aquaculture throughout the world.
