Aquaculture News Around the Country
New
Requirements for Canadian Aquatic Animal Import
New requirements for all aquatic animals (finfish, molluscs,
and crustaceans) imported into Canada go into effect
December 10, 2011. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA)
is implementing a Stream of Commerce Policy, as these new
import permit requirements represent a significant
regulatory change for importers of aquatic animals to
Canada. The policy will be in effect until December 10,
2012 to allow for a transition period before the import
permit requirements are enforced.

knowledge and skills to market their products more
successfully, grow their businesses, help shape the public’s
perception of aquaculture at a local level, and work with
government decision makers.
Colorado is
slated to host one of these workshops in October 2011.
